The Kew Historical Society is the custodian of the original framed photographs of the Mayors of Kew. The series dates from about 1862 to 1970. All are identically framed with dark wood. On the mount under the glass, the name of the mayor and the date/s of his/her term of office are recorded.
The Research Group of the Society is undertaking a large research project into every mayor of the City of Kew. Individual researchers are investigating the mayors of particular decades, starting in the 1860s.
This photograph of John Marshall, Mayor of Kew (1872-73) was donated by one of his descendants. The donor also provided us with newspaper articles about his life. If you can assist with resources or information, please contact our research group. (firstname.lastname@example.org)
