The Kew Historical Society Incorporated (KHS) acknowledges the generosity of Governments and Government institutions through grants programs that allow us to deliver programs and projects such as those described below.
2024
Community Heritage Grant (National Library of Australia)
Funding for conservation treatment of four costumes in the Henty Family Costume Collection. Three of the costumes belonged to Mary Ann Henty, and include two dresses dating from 1842, while a final child’s dress, dating from 1858, was made for Alice, her daughter. Conservation will be undertaken by Grimwade Conservation Services, University of Melbourne.
2023-2026
Triennial Operational Funding (City of Boroondara)
Operational funding grant by the City of Boroondara which will allow us to maintain and extend our core community activities including meetings, lectures, exhibitions, and publications. Funding will occur in each financial year during the period 2023-2026.
2023-2024
Community Heritage Grant (National Library of Australia)
Funding for a second Significance Assessment of the Henty Costume Collection, donated in 2023 by descendants of Francis and Mary Ann Henty. Funding paid for a curatorial assessment to be conducted by Ms Laura Jocic. The Final Report can be accessed on the Collections page of this website.
2021-2023
Triennial Operational Funding (City of Boroondara)
KHS has been awarded operational funding by the City of Boroondara. This funding will allow us to maintain and extend our core community activities including meetings, lectures, exhibitions, and publications. Funding will occur in each financial year.
2020-2021
Strengthening Communities Grants (City of Boroondara & Rotary Club of Balwyn)
KHS applied for and has been awarded two grants from the City of Boroondara and the Rotary Club of Balwyn. The first grant is to establish a permanent and purpose-designed Oral History Studio at the Kew Court House. The second grant is to fund a history of Kew describing significant items in the KHS collection. The finished product will be a pictorial history.
2019-2020
Community Heritage Grant (National Library of Australia)
Following the success of the Significance Assessment in 2018, the National Library has awarded KHS the funding required for external consultants from Grimwade Conservation Services to develop a Preservation Needs Assessment of our collection. The date for submission of the final report has been extended by the Library to 31 March 2021 because of the impact of COVID-19 closures of the Museum and Gallery sector in Victoria.
